Landscape photography started as black and white images over 150 years ago.
Mary Kay also known as Maria Kaimaki is a Greek landscape photographer. Here is something that Mary Kay wrote herself about landscape photography "Sitting behind a camera you understand your true place and significance in the grand scheme of things. A landscape is something timeless, persistent and enduring and we’re mere passengers on it, a tiny pixel in the big picture. " http://justeline.daportfolio.com/about/

Objectively in this image you can see that Kay was thinking a lot on how she wanted to set her picture out, as soon as you look at this picture you see that she has tried to make in symmetrical. You can see the benches either side and the lamp post in the middle by doing this it has made her image stand out more, and also makes you want to look at it for longer. You can also see that she has thought about the background because she would of had to go at sunset to take this picture which has made it look calm and peaceful. The birds in the background also make this picture very effective because it looks like they are flying off into the sunset. Subjectively this stood out to me also because you can see that the image never ends it carries on going though the middle by the way she has taken the image with the river/sea. The image is very detailed and you can see everything even the pattern on the floor. It is a very effective image and the colours all contrast together making it stand out even more.

Objectively as you can see in this image there is 3 main parts to it there is the sky the grass and the flowers which are all different colours. Charlie Waite would of had to go and take this picture at a specific time of day because you can see by the sky that its all dark. But the part that stands out most in the image is the middle part which is the grass because its so bright, this is what your eyes first get drawn into. The different parts are like different types of moods the dark for a dull and unhappy mood whilst the bright part for a happy and lively mood, and then the flowers at the bottom are what brings the picture together they add a bit more to the picture and add a more colour making it more attractive to the eye. Subjectively the image altogether is beautiful and very eye catching the 3 parts of the image make it more fascinating and it is easy to distinguish the 3 different parts. The photographer would of had to really focus on getting all 3 parts into the image and will of had to take it of a certain spot.

Tony Howell is a English landscape photographer, with over 30 years of experience. He has worked for some of the biggest businesses in the world.
Objectively in this picture you can see that Tony Howell has had to
think a lot about how he wanted his image to look. He had to go on a sunny day
because you can see the sun rays peeking through the trees, which gives the
picture a better effect, and also makes the photograph look brighter. Also he has taken the picture so everything
around is green and brown through the tree trunks and the moss on the rocks.
Everything around looks isolated because there is no one around apart from the
greenery and rocks. The foreground of the picture is the stream and some rocks
which is what the photographer has focused most on. He hasn’t centred the
stream right in the middle of the picture so it has made the image look more
interesting and makes you want to look at it for longer. Tony Howell also
hasn’t taken the top of the trees he has focused more on the bottom and the
trunks which you can see in the distance. The stones in the stream also make it
look like a path way leading to something into the distance which is bright and
wonderful. Subjectively I think that this image is very calm and peaceful because of all the greenery. The water is very still and clear, whilst the branches and the leaves on the trees are growing in many different directions.

Here are a few examples of my own landscape photography:
The first 3 pictures I took at Djanogly in the park I picked the 3 which I thought captured different elements and angles and also the 3 which looked completely different. The 3 below them are ones which I took from the back of my house when I was taking these I tried to fit quite a bit into the image but also I wanted to keep the main features to the left of the image and leave the greenery on the right. I did this so that when people look at the image they look at the whole of it and hopefully find it eye-catching and detailed.

Here is some photoshop which I have don't on my landscape image I tried to make it interesting but not too bright and loud. So I only added a hint of colour to bring out some brightness.
