Tim Walker - was born in England 1970, his first discovery of photography was in the London library Conde Nast, which is where he worked on Cecil Beaton archive. He has an Honors degree in photography at Exeter College of Art. In 1994 Walker worked in London as a freelance photographic assistant then after moved to New York as a full time assistant for Richard Avedon. Then he shot his first fashion story for Vogue when he was 25 years old. In 2012 he released 'storyteller' which was a photographic exhibition at Somerset House in London.
Objectively, this image is very strong this is because you can see the two bears hiding behind the tree as if no one can see them whilst the girl is walking past oblivious to them being there. It's as if she is modelling, running her fingers through her hair and holding her bag in the other hand. Her emotions show that she isn't exactly happy she is thinking deeply and seems to be a little confused. You wouldn't normally see someone dressed up like this walking through the forest she is dressed as if she is going out somewhere, and her hair is blowing in the wind as if she is in a fashion shoot. The bears in the background add more to the image they look big, soft and friendly they don't look as if they are harmful at all. The fluffy white on the bear breaks up the dark colours in the image, but even though there is no bright colours the image is still very effective and is extremely eye catching.
Subjectively I think that this image is very intriguing the girl at the front stands out a lot this is because the image is mainly focused on her although she is all in black you instantly look at the emotion on her face, its like she has just stopped for a minuet to think about something. You wouldn't normally see an image like this which is why it is so mesmerising to look at. The bears are also very inconspicuous they are trying to hide however because they are so big it is impossible for them to be hidden. All the colours blend together in the image nicely and are all quite earthy and natural colours.
Here are my responses for Tim Walker I tried doing some shoots similar to his by incorporating props in my shoots. He also has people in his shoots so I have also done this, however to make my work different from his I have used props of my own and tried to use more than one person also to have more of an atmosphere in my images. I have also made sure that there is landscape in the background of the images so when you look at the images there are a variety of colours and not just a table with people around. Also when I took my images I made sure that the sky was blue this is so it brightens up the images, and so the images don't look dull.
In this image I got them both to look at me whilst the wind was blowing their hair and the table cloth I think by the table cloth blowing in the wind it has added to the picture and has given it more effect.
In my opinion I think this image is really effective because it goes with the weird and wonderful theme by having a tea party in the middle of a field, also by them not looking straight into the lens and acting as if they are actually having tea draws you more into what is going on with their emotions, whats on the table and also the background.
This image reminds me of the Elanor Hardwick one in where she has the 3 people sat round a table in the middle of no where. All 3 girls are looking into the camera however the 2 on the end are more so than the one in the middle. They are both also holding onto their tea cups as if they are about to drink from their cups whilst the one in the middle already is.
Here they are sat around as if they are having a feast they are eating and pouring out tea and are acting as if the camera isn't even there so quite natural.
In this image I have stepped further back to focus more on the landscape as well as the people. I'm drawn into this image because of the 3 parts in the landscape behind you can see the clear blue sky on top with all the trees in the middle and then the greenery of the field on the bottom. Then with the table in the middle of the field it draws you into the image more and what they are doing. I think all the colours in the image go together and look very suttle and it's like they were meant to be there.
In this image I got the young one by herself and got her to pretend she was pouring herself a tea and act as if she was having a tea party. I think by the wind blowing the table cloth gives the image more effect and more to look at.
In this image as you can see what I did was just collect props and because it was a windy day I thought it would be a good idea to use an umbrella. So when the umbrella flipped and turn inside out I captured the image, and told the model to look at the umbrella. I have also capture all the background in the image making sure I got the blue sky as well as the trees and the grass.
In this image I got her to jump off the ladders whilst the umbrella was still inside out as if she was Mary Poppins.
In these images above what I have done is edited them in photoshop and have filtered them like Instagram photos.
Here I have used the images which I edited as instagram images but have circled around them and defined them with a border.
